Initially, individuals will be able to present their Florida Smart ID to participating law enforcement for identity verification and to participating retail partners for age verification via an associated Florida Smart ID Verifier app, which “reads” your Florida Smart ID.
Florida Smart ID is a legally acceptable form of identity or age verification by the state of Florida, however, because it is a new concept in Florida, some businesses and organizations may not yet accept Florida Smart ID. Please be aware, law enforcement, retailers and other businesses are not obligated to accept the Florida Smart ID.
Future uses will include airport security, rental car transactions, and more.
